Verkada’s hybrid cloud camera stores up to 120 days of footage on the camera’s solid-state drive (SSD) and operates in “steady state”. In steady state, cameras send a continuous metadata stream (which includes thumbnail images and video analytics) to the cloud using a WAN bandwidth uplink of only 20 kbps per camera.
Although the Verkada Mini Dome Series is smaller, it still produces excellent image quality. Unlike the Dome Series, the Mini Dome is only meant indoor use. However, they still come with a 10 year warranty and all the same features.
We are evaluating Meraki cameras now, together with Verkada and Rhombus. I believe these are the 3 players in the cloud-based surveillance space. All 3 very similar on the surface. My other option is a traditional NVR based system. I'm leaning towards cloud-based. Concerned about price and annual fees, but not there yet in the eval.
